This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

[Derelict Delvers] Rename the game?

Since the games focus has moved into exploring derelicts in a bigger way, more wild, free and strange. As well as more general space opera elements, should I rename the game?

I'm considering it and taking suggestions (here and that other place...)

It is REALLY on track now, and I'm enjoying it.

Honestly, the word "Derelict" has kept me from looking at the game in some subtle way. I just realized it now, but the word has a negative connotation for me, and every time I've seen the name, I've unconsciously lumped it with the many "low rent" games I've seen online. I apologize, and now that I recognize my own bias, I figured I'd let you know since you asked about changing the name.

This "low rent" or "published homebrew" category that I have unintentionally created just means that I wouldn't normally be the one to look into the game, but if my friends or raving online posters sold me on it, I'd give it as much of a chance as any other game.

For me a good game name sounds polished and evocative of the best the game has to offer. It's like an ad for the game in itself.

I just figured you might be interested. No offense intended, of course.

The Mosaic Oracle is on sale now. It\'s a raw, open-sourced game design Toolk/Kit based on Lurianic Kabbalah and Lambda Calculus that uses English key words to build statements. If you can tell stories, you can make it work. It fits on one page. Wait for future games if you want something basic; an implementation called Wonders and Worldlings is coming soon.

No worries. I suspect it was looking exactly like that to me, mechanically which is why I changed the internals. I liked the name though. Stars without Number is a very GOOD game, and did what I was planning far better than I had managed at the point I ran into it.

What about the pun-like (but appropriate) Archive Space?

Oh, a big part of the games "new" focus is on science being the solution to problems. You can swing across a cavern to rescue the princess of an alien species, but if you in character try and calculate the trajectory, swing, etc? Bonus!

I like Archive Space, or just "The Archive".

Nice Broken Serenity, but like Derelict Delvers, it doesn't quite catch what I'm after. Although maybe for a more humorous version...

Here are the final choices since I can't seem to post a poll in this forum. Grumbles.

      Derelict Delvers

      Per Scientia ut Astrum

      Archive Space

      Astounding Explorers

      Raygun Raiders

      Technoquary

      Grand Voyages

      On the Shoulders of Giants

      Arcanum de Astrum

Others are of course welcome as usual.

My vote is for Derelict Delvers, but if you're looking for something else from that list, then my secondary vote would be for Archive Space. :)
