This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The foundations of my rpg-projects.

I just noticed the other day that I seem to actually want to make my own versions of more or less known rpgs, both so I will remove things I don't like or don't think fit, while adding things I like and that will fit, as well as giving them the same core rules, so they are directly combinable.

It is titles like Heroes Unlimited, TMNT, TORG, Kult, CoC, WoD(Mainly the Old, but the new having an actual joint core book is a really good idea, too), Changeling tD(ok it is OWoD, but it deserves a separate mention), Shadowrun and BESM.

However, i'm not sure how to feel about it, as it may seem like I have no ideas on my own if I acknowledge those influences.
Although, once the revisions are done, it should be obvious that the games really is different ...
I may not dislike D&D any longer, but I still dislike the Chaos-Lawful/Evil-Good alignment system, as well as the level system.
;)

One of the useful things I learned in business school was the idea of "Distinctive Competence."  That is, what does your do better than anybody else's

Concentrate on creating a paragraph that clearly states what your game does better than any other game.

Then write the parts that do that and to Hell with the rest.  We don't need another "What Is Role Playing" chapter.

To use what I think is a really great game as an example:

KING ARTHUR PENDRAGON:  A game of playing a knight in King Arthur's mythical kingdom as portrayed by Malory.  The system is specially designed so that your knight's passions and relationships are as important as his fighting prowess.
You should go to GaryCon.  Period.

The rules can\'t cure stupid, and the rules can\'t cure asshole.

UPDATE:
New pdf!
And yes, I added that paragraph, and I made at least some corrections to the first pages due to proofreading, but I do not know if it is anywhere near enough.
