That really doesn't have to be the case, as long as the events in the game are still handled through a proper resolution mechanic which doesn't depend on purely OOC factors for the efficiency of the PC actions. I've occasionally heard folks mention having trouble with the sense of immersion during diceless sessions, but that seems more like a matter of individual preferences than anything else: after all, by all logic pausing to roll the six-siders or to calculate modifiers should have precisely the same effect during diced play. That is to say, most current diceless systems aren't mechanically all that different from their diced counterparts except (naturally enough) for the reduced element of chance.
