This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

As fans of the genre know, there are certain character molds which seem to travel from film/tv show to film/tv show. Each type has a similar personality and they are cookie-cutter characters.

I am trying to come up with a decent list of them for a game I am writing.  They will have skills and abilities based on their role in the film.  Anyway, I'll list a few just to get the ball running.

1. "Beauty Queen"
2. "Screamer"
3. Jock
4. Nerd
5. Fat Guy

Finally, I am still in the middle of thinking/writing their powers or characterization.  For instance,  the Fat Guy supplies all food needs for the group and they have a 50/50 chance to raise the spirits of the group.  Maybe they will also have a special charge.  The goals of the powers are to enforce certain qualities by making the powers reflect them.

There was a game included in Fantasy Gamer #1 by Aaron Allston called Slasher Flick: Revenge of the Bogeyman in Exciting 2-D.  You can find a review of it here.  This review contains the list I hoped I could find (without digging out my copy of Fantasy Gamer #1) which is the list of the characters for the game, which was focused on college students:

  • Bus Driver
  • Whiz Kid
  • Football Player
  • Surfer
  • BMOC
  • Biker
  • ROTC
  • Psych Major
  • Cheerleader
  • Jockette
  • Preppie
  • Valley Girl
  • Ingenue

You could also add "Mummy's Boy" in there.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I have plenty to chew on now.
