This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

1) No GM plot survives contact with the players.

2) No PC plot survives contact with the GM.

3) If the GM smiles and asks "Really? OK...", you know you're in deep shit.

4) It takes time to develop gaming skills, and there are few "naturals." That kid playing a 25th level Paladin over there? He used to be you.

5) You can always learn something new.

6) Most people play a game for fun.

Come on, post your own!

7) The players will be much smarter than you could imagine them being.

8) The players will be much stupider than you could imagine them being.

9) #7 and #8 will often happen simultaneously.

10) When you become a player, #7, #8 and #9 will very much apply to you.

20) Don't be ashamed of your hobby. Gaming is fun.

20a) If and when it ceases to be fun, or you eventually find out that the only fun you can have is in pretending to not be a gamer, (whilst you maintain your gaming blogs and talk mostly about how other people are gaming..) -- do us both a favor and quit. Don't look back. This is your last year.  It's over for you, buddy.

21) If you are the GM and the players are having fun, but you are not* (for whatever reason), stop running games.
