This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

A new game to try

I don't know if this is where I should put this but...
If your gaming group is looking for a new rpg to try out I give to you The Cursed RPG.
It is a low powered urban fantasy game I have been writing since 2007ish. I have played it with a group of friends and worked out a lot of bugs. I would like to broaden the play testing. Take a look, see what you think, try it out, let me know what you think (and let me know if you find any spelling or grammatical errors). It is fun and it is free, give it a try and tell me what you think.

Welcome! From the PDF I'm having a really hard time getting a feel for the overall game - the only place "urban fantasy" is mentioned is on your web page. You need a pitch right at the start that explains what this is all about and more importantly what makes it interesting, this paragraph from your website in fact:

"The Cursed RPG is a low powered urban fantasy game. Magic isn't real, there are no vampires or werewolves, and here not be monsters. Well, that is what the mass majority want to believe at least. Your character is one of the unfortunate ones who get to learn the truth the hard way. While you play someone capable of wielding great mystical powers, it isn't as good as it sounds. Your character may be more powerful than his mortal ken, he is still the lowest man on the supernatural ladder. "

I won't comment on the layout because I assume it's not finished, and I won't comment on the spelling because you aren't paying me enough to do that, but an introductory section for non roleplayers is always a good idea. For more experienced players they want first a bird's eye view of how to do things in the game (core mechanic etc), then a bird's eye view of chargen. Lots of actual play examples are also always good.

Again welcome, please enjoy the complementary shower hat and bag of mints, and do partake in other discussions on this very interesting forum!
"These children are playing with dark and dangerous powers!"
"What else are you meant to do with dark and dangerous powers?"
A concise overview of GNS theory.

I like what I've read so far. Obviously a WoD influence, but not so much that it's a pastiche and it's flavor seems closer to Nephilim/Witchcraft. Needs some art and formatting to make it easier on the eyes, but obviously a lot of work has gone into it and the writing is well above the standard of many Indy games. Look forward to seeing it progress. Haven't gotten to the meat and potatoes of the system yet, will respond more when I do.

Can I ask why Body and Health were separated? And what about a fast/agile/weak character vs a strong/tough/slow one?

Thank you, that was actually very helpful.  I have been meaning to put in a few one to two page short story to give a feel of how the game is suppose to feel.  I thought I took that paragraph you mentioned from the introduction, but I have been cutting and pasting and editing so much I don't necessarily remember where I read what when.  Thank you again.

I actually came up with the idea for the game while playing Mage the Ascension.  I am working on art for the game and hope to have that done relatively soon.

I had Body and Health separate because strong does not always mean health and weak does not mean sickly.  The game has bonuses and penalties that will make some characters with the same Body stat stronger/weaker or faster/slower than others with the same stat. Thank you for looking over the game.

Not a bother, I find this is a good place to get feedback as people will just say what they like, a refreshing honesty. I'd be interested to give it another going over when you've polished it a bit further. Or even better post up the core rules/chargen and let us have at them.
