Title: Box Adventure

I'm working on a hybrid Board Game / RPG.  It will have Maps, PreGens, Rules Set, and Map tokens (even as a PDF).  What I am most wondering is what world would be most acceptable for this type of Game?  Horror, Steam Punk, Fantasy... something else...

You could maybe check out "The one Ring" for inspiration. It's the middle earth tolkien setting - and based on the books (not the films)!
The game uses one big map: ยด
When the party accepts a quest they travel from their "base" (=hometown) to wherever they need to go and the GM rolles random events for them. The map feels like a dungeon - at least to me and my group it did. We quickly switched to another system - after I had bought the Core rules and the Mirkwood Campaign book for 120 Euros . d:

In hindsight the game did not work for us because it was not a Pen & Paper RPG 100%.

The game describes itself as a Roleplaying game but to me it rather feels like a very advanced board game. There are just a lot of board game rules to it. In case you play this game the way it wants to be played your players need to roll "Travelling" constantly. Dull mechanis? Not sure, but very heavy on the board game side. In case you get hold of it you recommend you to flip through the pages just a little bit. Personally I feel like a fantasy board game should work best.
