This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

...Are you a published fiction author? Because if you aren't, I'd suggest seriously giving that a shot.

The whole thing is great.

Unfortunately, I still can't say how well the system works. Maybe doing a secondary showing times and places you rolled and the results?
The main problem with government is the difficulty of pressing charges against its directors.

Given a choice of two out of three M&Ms, the human brain subconsciously tries to justify the two M&Ms chosen as being superior to the M&M not chosen.

You know (oh and thanks), I was thinking of doing something along those lines.   How about, I thought, a version that shows the GMing techniques used (ie - where I ad libbed and why, where and what was rolled, where the Player hunkered down and really *thought* about tactics or strategy, etc), and then this version which is just the story itself.

Another thing I'm considering is getting an illustrator to help me with these publishing them as stories on lulu or something.   As for me being a published fiction author ... um nope.   Just lowly Gamesmaster here.   Maybe someday, eh?

Anyway, thanks a million for the support!   :)

Edit:  Also, I don't know if you got a chance to read it, but what did you think of Game Test VIII?

I read about three of your tests; can't quite recall which ones - My memory is kinda foggy. But, you can pretty much copy-paste this for the other two. :)

I see, that's fine.  Actually, I'm going to compile them all into a cohesive set of chapters from I through at least 12 and publish them as a set on my forum.  I'll post a thread titled something like Elthos ODS Game Test - Full Story, or some such when I get them all together.   Until then I'll be posting the story in series as they come out.   Next game test will be next week, or the week after.   I also have another Gamesmaster who will be testing the system as well, and I'm going to try to incorporate his tests into the story if that's possible.   We'll have to see how that part goes.   Anyway, thanks for the encouragement.  Much appreciated.  :)

Just to note, if you do publish on Lulu, it would seem a good idea to split the money with your gaming group - So no hard feelings.

It's a thought, but would be hard to do because some of them have only played in a few of the sessions, and others I don't know how to get in touch with, and so figuring out what the right divvy would be is one issue.  Another is that it opens up a rather large can of worms that I'm not sure I want to open.  Since I play all the NPCs, of which there are many, how does that effect the divy.   Plus I created the background and the world itself, so how does that effect the divvy?   What is a fair distribution?   While it sounds like a great idea in principal, and I'm not greedy about whatever small profits there might be, the issues surrounding story ownership and fairness are difficult to tweeze out.  Another aspect to consider is that while we all played the game together, only I wrote the story, which is to say that the actual work in terms of the copyright is mine.  It is like saying that you had ten conversations with some people over a year, and then you wrote a story in which those conversations featured a large part.   Would that mean that you should pay the people you conversed with?   I'm not sure most authors would actually agree with that position.   And also, I honestly don't think that if I did post the story it would cause any hard feelings.  It might even be a positive in that they can say, "yeah - that was my character that got in that story because I played him cool", or something.   So basing the decision on a projection of what people might feel is another aspect that I think is problematic.

The fact is, though, that any of us could do the same - write up the story based on our recollections of the game and publish it on lulu.   I think, from a logistics perspective, that would be easier, and just as fair.   Of course I haven't published anything yet, and there is no money on the table, so I have time to think it over.   Thanks for the suggestion.   I'll also talk about it with my friends and see what their take on it is.
