[Artwork Heavy] The Brainstorming Process

Often when I start brainstorming a game, I create art. Now please bear in mind, I'm far far far from a professional artist, but here are bits and pieces from things I am working on:

And yes I know I'm not a professional artist so bear that in mind, these are mostly for reference for myself, and occasionally for artists.

Man, these are pretty good. So good that I infact might take one and render it in illustrator! While my drawing skills are the suck my *.ai fu is strong, and I can use that pen tool like a mad man! Just saying for one of my games or something (homestuff not for public consumption)

I do the same. It really helps to establish a look or feel for the game in your own mind. I like the sketches. I've always thought that would be an interesting style for an RPG product. An almost journalistic notebook/sketchbook similar to the one in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Scribbles and notes in the margins, quick sketches, personal reminders, first hand accounts, maybe even rough maps folded within, etc... done in brown so the black game text is still visible. I'd like to think it would make the reader more immersed in the setting because it gives the impression of a first hand account.

okay, this took me..um just a minute or two But that's the general rendering part. If i get soem time ill show you the finished, which will have tighter lines.

This is my first Z-trooper (colored), I've learned better techniques since then, so am working on doing better
