Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I do actually find GNS quite useful from an analytical point of view, at least via the lens of my 'unconventional' understanding of it. This is broader than RPGs and is old, so people have probably already read it, but its probably more useful in terms of identifying the bases.

Did you have some ... topic for discussion here?

'cuz, failing that, I'm betting that the thread will rapidly devolve into "GNS SUCKS!" which, while always entertaining, isn't really likely to produce any new insights for anyone.

I'd agree it can be useful, anything that helps you frame a useful dialog to examine something can be useful.   Some folks kind of treat this kind of thinking as if it were a holy text rather than a tool, which confuses me but I have found it interesting.

There's no question that GNS can be useful in designing games. Many people have stated that it has, and I'm not going to call them all liars, and have no reason to doubt their sincerity. The fact that it doesn't help me doesn't mean it doesn't help anyone else. There are three "doesn'ts" in that last sentence. Is that a record?

Err... its not about GNS, its about the article I linked to which is a broader and perhaps more pragmatic way of breaking games down for analysis.

You did follow the link, right?

Yes, I did.

Yep.  There's an article there.  With words.

Did you have some topic for discussion?  Or is it just "Hey, look guys!  I found an article!  Do you like it?"

Agree, disagree, how would you use it, do you agree or disagree with the premises of the article.

I brought this article up
in a "Pundit Rant" thread a while ago. It led, amongst other things, to UNOism :) And then the thread turned south, but it was interesting for a couple of pages there.
