This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

An idea for a game system....your thoughts?

Howdy!

I've been tinkering with the idea of coding my own MUD codebase, and I want to make it as unique as possible.

Therefore, I decided one night that I needed to generate my own RPG rule system.

GAME PREMISE:  (Medieval setting)

The world is covered in darkness.  Powerful immortals roam the lands, leaving behind them a wake of chaos and destruction wherever they go.  It is up to you to dedicate yourself to the Warrior Path to make the Realm safe again for mortal men.  Are you up to the task?

Basically, the whole premise of the game is similar to the Highlander series, except that there will never be ONLY ONE.  The goal is to become the strongest player, and be able to defeat any challenge.  There will be magic (magic system will be generated along with the ruleset, of course).  I'm just having trouble figuring out where to start.

Any ideas?

Age of Fable

In my experience there are more rule systems than there need to be.
free resources:
Teleleli The people, places, gods and monsters of the great city of Teleleli and the islands around.
Age of Fable \'Online gamebook\', in the style of Fighting Fantasy, Lone Wolf and Fabled Lands.
Tables for Fables Random charts for any fantasy RPG rules.
Fantasy Adventure Ideas Generator
Cyberpunk/fantasy/pulp/space opera/superhero/western Plot Generator.
Cute Board Heroes Paper \'miniatures\'.
Map Generator
Dungeon generator for Basic D&D or Tunnels & Trolls.

This has been many years ago but for some reason, your idea sounded like old mud code...I want to say it was called Godwars or something like that.  Anyway, I am just thinking of the days where all of the MUDs were text-based.
It is unbecoming for young men to utter maxims.

Divinity - an RPG where players become Gods and have to actually worry about pleasing their followers.

That's exactly the premise I'm wanting to use.

However, I don't want to deal with the Merc/Diku licenses, and I don't want to base it off of DnD either.  I want my own rule system, and my own codebase.
