Title: [Actual Play] In Harm's Way - 1795
Post by: flyingmice on October 17, 2006, 09:29:20 PM
If you're interested:

Here's a link (http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=281242) to the actual play thread for one of my current In Harm's Way games. This one is 13 year old English midshipmen in the caribbean in 1795. My other current IHW game is older American commanders in the Mediterranean in 1803, but I don't have an actual play for that...

Very cool!  I remember reading this by chance when I was looking for reviews of In Harm's Way.  What mesmerized me was the command you had over the genre and period.  Your descriptions and NPC dialogue were spot on for the period, at least to this "saw-Master-and-Commander-one-time" newbie.

Bloody hell.  I have to read some O'Brien now...

Thanks, Samarkand! I have read an enormous amount of period fiction, as well as many histories and technical books, so I'm quite comfortable in the times. The two players are aquainted with the literature, but no more than that, and I think do an excellent job!

Any time I can inspire someone to read O'Brian is a triumph in my book! :D
