This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

A clash's work never ends...

Quote from: Spike;281088Its weird that I could see the spaceship floorplan but not the armor stuff.

Yeah - especially since the files are hosted in the same place.

QuoteIts a bit messy, hard to see the lines when its all in black like that.  Looks interesting beyond that. I can see some attention was paid to joints, which is a nice turn.

There's a really simple reason for that, Spike. It's a painting, not a technical drawing. I'm a trained draftsman as well as a technical writer by profession - I did technical drawings and prints for 25 years before I moved full time into the writing side. I've done patent drawings, parts drawings, assembly drawings, exploded assembly drawings, full machine drawings, etc. That was not the intent here. As you noted, I did pay attention to how things fit together, and how they operated - that's my nature, and my training since I was a toddler - but the intent for the illo was just to give an impression of what it looked like, sans skin. :D

With their enormous size and immense, gaping maws, shark men are extremely intimidating. By breeding out the most objectionable facets of shark behavior, and breeding in loyalty, the Vantors of Pollux succeeded in creating a masterpiece of uplifting.

Eh.

I swear that term, or a VERY similar one is used by Metabarons for pretty much the same sort of weapon.  What I never see is WHY people call them Cogars, or what have you.

Then again, fiction suffers from the fact that its never allowed to be nearly as banal OR bizzare as real life. Talk about a fine line to tread...
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

Hi Spike!

I never played or read Metabarons, I came up with it on my own. From COherent GAmma Radiation, to go with Laser, which is also an acronym.

Now that I can see the pictures: Like the Cogar but hate the shark-man-gorilla thing.

Of course, I personally find the standard art style I've noticed in your products as overly 'washed out' looking, but that's purely personal, unlike the objective opinions stated above. ;)

Which one, Tim? Created Creatures is a supplement for StarCluster - or for IHW: StarCluster for that matter! IHW: SC will be a full game, though!

'S'OK, Spike. Some people like my illos, some don't. It's what I can do. I personally liked Shark-Man, and I don't always like my own illos. No disputing matters of taste!

Guestion: Isn't COGAR also essentially a GRASER? Isn't that the more common term? (Gamma Ray Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation?) and aren't they all really Lasers? Technically speaking Light is the visible part of the EM spectrum but Cosmic Rays, aren't they hard Gamma Rays, meaning a a GRASER/COGAR is just a very high end EM coherent beam?

Maybe its just my sleeplessness.

Yes - Gamma rays are the very highest energy portion of EM radiation, with a wavelength overlapping that of X-rays. They are produced by M/AM reactions, and channeled into a coherent beam by gravitic manipulation. Gamma Rays are far more damaging than visible light.

Graser is another term for the same thing, but I never liked it for a weapon, as it implies near-misses.
