Title: [2008 Catalog] I like doing layout
Post by: HinterWelt on May 01, 2008, 10:42:53 PM
There are times when I think I should just layout books. I really like doing that whether I am good at it or not. Any suggestions or comments on the attached catalog would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

I think it could use a touch more white space and it seems to me that the blue bars overwhelm the design.

I'd agree with Seanchi on the white space--perhaps just a bit of separation between entries?

Other than that, aces!

You might want to put the columnar formatted data first, then the descriptive paragraph. It might help with the white space issue as well.  Just a thought...

In Squirrel Attack, it reads "and the wits you kin naturally have,"; I assume it should read "your kin"?

In Squirrel Attack, you mention "statement size" in a paragraph, then in a later paragraph you mention it with the parenthetical size designation. I would think you'd want to either put the size designation after the first mention of statement size, alter the paragraph order (so the size definition comes first), or something. My assumption is it's an industry term, but if you're going parenthetically define something, that aside should come with the first mention...I think...I'm no expert...

You have the website in each entry. Perhaps providing the general website once would be better - as it seems repetitive. I know they are different (roma. versus shades., etc.) but...

as always - IMHO, YMMV, you're the professional, etc...

BTW - who is doing your catalog?

You know I...ummm...work for a company that...well..does pre-press work and so forth for catalogs, text books, direct mail, etc....right?

;)

Thanks for the comments. The catalog is updated. The columnar data comes first, more white space and unified website addresses.

Thanks,
